Summer Corns

just showing off Dani's craft
My kids love steamed corns with butter and salt....
We eat steamed corns all the times
If they are not in season,
I just buy the frozen corns,
microwave them until done, then mix with some butter and salt
Tim usually squeals in delight to see a bowl of the buttery sweetness
During summer, of course, I will buy fresh corns
They taste very sweet,
thanks to the smart people who genetically modified them

Although the kids eat homemade corn fritters
they love steamed creamed corn better
Hahaha, less work for me

KIDS MEAL

Not the ones at fast food chains
I got the inspiration when eating in a cafetaria style Japanese restaurant
Their kids meals are : udon/ ramen noodle, onigiri/ fried rice, juice, fruit, snack, and a cheapo toy

Tim and Sophie love it. While Daniel orders adult menu now
So, at home, we created kids meal without the cheapo toys
( since we have tons of them already )
breakfast : cinnamon brown sugar bread, orange juice, fruit with yogurt sauce
rice, cucumber slices, tofu omelet, boiled egg, corn salad, beef and boiled egg rouladen

baked chicken from Boston Market, wheat bread, lettuce, blueberries, chocolate

MORNING REARRANGING

Today I had a dentist appointment for pulling a tooth
Feeling nervous, I started to do something to keep
my mind out of it...
So, I rearranged the furniture in my living / formal dining

Because my family did not have any use for a formal dining room
I decided to make it a study for my kids

Anybody interested in this little dining set ? Let me know.
It's free, otherwise I'll just donate it
one table and four chairs ( one's away in the kitchen )
Then I went to the dentist
The pulling procedure went okay
Not as bad as I thought

MORNING ORGANIZING

The kitchen pantry was a hot mess.
So, today, I organized it,
a chore that was way overdue

Found a jar of chocolates from last year ( yipee )

a bag of bread from didn't know when
( not even dare to open it )
some dead ants
a bag full of expired medicines

Started the top shelf around 8 am
Things got delayed since I needed to run some errands with Sophie
Finally the whole shelves were done around 3.30
Huurahhh...

MORNING BAKING

Since Sophie finished her Young 5 program,
I don't have to rush in the morning.
Yipee ! Today, I did a morning baking.
Tomorrow, I don't know...
Maybe a morning exercise or quick writing ?
Or just taking my time in the shower ?
Hmmm....

apple muffin with dark chocolate sprinkles

brownie ( from the mix )

Bread and Spreads

When I was young, I ate white bread for snack.
Some of the stuff I spread on my bread
may be considered unusual by my kids now

These are the lists :
Blue Band is Indonesia popular margarine, now and then
Back then
1. Margarine and white sugar
2. Condensed Milk and Chocolate Condensed Milk
3. Margarine and Chocolate Sprinkles
4. Pineapple jam ( usually homemade )
5. Sliced American Cheese
6. Peanut Butter ( Malino was the popular brand , back then )
7. Strawberry Jam
8. Nutella ( very rare appeared in my childhood home,
once it did, quickly consumed of course )
9. Srikaya jam ( not popular in my childhood home )
Srikaya jam tastes like coconut custard
These days
1. Nutella ( my family love it.. a staple at our home )
2. Peanut Butter and jam ( Hubby's fav )
3. Fluffernutter ( peanut butter and marshmellow fluff , Dani's favorite )
4. Orange marmalade ( only hubby likes it )
5. Biscoff spread
6. Ham or cold cuts ( only hubby and I like it, Sophie eat the ham without the bread )
7. Pandan Srikaya Jam ( Daniel and I like it, too rich of a flavor for hubby )

The family pickiest eater, Timmy, only eat bread with nutella .
We tried to eat whole wheat bread.
But mostly, what we consider our daily bread
is steamed white rice.
Hubby and I try to eat brown rice these days.
The kids do not like it, though.
This marshmellow fluff is actually kosher
What kind of spreads do you like ?
